THE PITCH

Dust to Dust is a competitive deck building card game that rewards you for removing cards as you play, pushing you to find powerful combos with a streamlined deck. Recruit beautiful and dangerous ally cards, with art inspired by Studio Ghibli and Dark Souls. Allies’ stories are told within and between each card, making for new lore discoveries every game.

Who will you recruit to win?

MY ROLE

I conceived of the world for Dust to Dust, then assembled a team, starting with our lead artist, Bonny John, followed by our graphic designer, Will Paybarah. Throughout the COVID lockdown, I developed and balanced cards in concert with Bonny’s iteration on the art, testing each new version of the game on Tabletop Simulator. Once the game and art crystallized, I led an expanded team, including a videographer, photographer, marketing associate, and animator to bring the game to life for Kickstarter, where we funded and fulfilled the game to backers.

THE IMPACT

  • $24.7K raised on Kickstarter of $20K goal

  • Fulfilled 300+ game orders across Kickstarter and web store

  • 8.42 average BoardGameGeek review score

REVIEW FROM THE TEAM

“Over the past few months I've had the pleasure of working on Mr. Swan's creative team as lead animator, bringing various concept images to life for his game Dust to Dust. With Spencer as our team's project manager, our work flow ran smooth and efficiently and each meeting ended on good notes. Overall I had a joy receiving Spencer and our lead artist's direction and feedback to complete each assignment and I look forward to working with them again in the future.”
